Changes due to strike in the security company
Update 3.12: The strike is over
The security company is still on strike, and from Saturday 28 November, they will step up further and take out personnel at the central who receive alarms from the lifts. Unfortunately, this means that from 3 p.m. on Friday 27 November, all lifts in Mørkvedlia and Nordavind student homes will stop.
If you are depending on a lift to get to your home, we ask you to please contact the Housing Office as soon as possible.
You can read more about the strike here (in Norwegian). We will notify as soon as the strike is over.
The following consequences of the strike still apply:
No. 1 - Fire preparedness
When a fire alarm is triggered, the alarm station usually sends out a security guard who makes an assessment of the situation. Due to the strike, all fire alarms that comes in to the alarm station will be immediately routed to the fire department Salten Brann. To avoid stealing the fire deparments capacity to move out on overcooked pizzas with us, we ask that all residents pay extra attention during this period.
If you should be unlucky enough to trigger a fire alarm, and you know for sure that there is no need for fire emergency response, we ask you to be quick and press the stop button in the hallway (applies to the facilities that have this stop button).
If you don`t make it to the stop button in time, or if this button doesn`t exist at your student home, we ask you to call the alarm station on tel. 0047 815 00 820 to prevent emergency response. NB! Only if you are confident that the situation is safe.
No. 2 - Limited lock-in service
Normally you can call the security company at all hours of the day if you have lost your key or have been locked out. This does not apply during the strike.
During the period 10 p.m. - 8 a.m. on weekdays and 10 p.m. - 10 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday, you can not get this help. Feel free to ally yourself with another resident - and be extra careful during this period, so that you do not end up in a difficult situation.
When and where can you actually call?
- Monday - Friday at 8 a.m. - 10 p.m.
- Saturday - Sunday at 10 a.m. - 10 p.m.
- Tel. 0047 815 00 820
No. 3 - Opening hours common areas
Due to the constant need for infection control and the need for peace and quiet at the larger student homes, the opening hours in the common areas must still be limited. Due to the strike, the temporary opening hours are at 9 a.m. 3 p.m. on weekdays, and closed on weekends. We hope to return with new opening hours as soon as possible.
It is normally the security guards that closes and locks the common areas. Did you know that when they lock up, they also check inside the lockers to see if anyone has hidden? Yes, it has happened. And it also happens that they meet people who don´t live at the student home. Do you remember to close the front door behind you when you enter? We do not want to scare you, but make you aware of the shared responsibility you have for your home.
