Practical information for tenants at Kaialundveien.
Useful information that can make your stay at the student home easier.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW ABOUT CLEANING
Cleaning Information
Private Room / Apartment
Cleaning of your own room or apartment is the responsibility of each resident, and you must provide your own cleaning equipment.
Common Areas
A cleaning company cleans the common areas once a week. This includes hallways, stairways, elevators, accessible toilets (HCWC), laundry rooms, and the shared lounge. Rugs outside doors in hallways are not permitted, nor are drying racks or similar items.
Shared Lounge
If you use or rent the shared lounge, you must clean it after use. We recommend taking pictures of the lounge before use if it has not been cleaned prior to your rental. The person booking the shared area is responsible for ensuring that the rules are followed and that the room is completely cleaned and tidied no later than 12:00 noon the following day. If the lounge is not cleaned by 12:00, you will be charged for the time required for cleaning. Failure to comply may result in losing the right to book shared areas. You will find a student cleaning supply closet on the 2nd and 4th floors with limited equipment intended for cleaning the shared lounge after use.
- Quiet hours begin at 24:00 on weekends and 23:00 on weekdays.
- To have exclusive use of the shared lounge during the booking period, there must be at least 10 people present. If there are fewer than 10 people, all residents in the building may use the area.
- Those booking the shared lounge are responsible for cleaning and tidying it.
- Trash must be removed before leaving the room, and cleaning must be completed by 12:00 noon the following day. Hallways, shared toilets, and elevators must also be cleaned if necessary.
- All furniture and equipment used must be cleaned and returned to their original place after use. The student who booked the shared area is responsible for ensuring it looks the same as in the photos when leaving.
- All reservations must be made through the “Reddel” app. You may book the room once per month.
Moving In
When you move in, you must inspect the housing unit carefully. If you discover major faults, damages, or other issues, you must create a report in the app. Describe the issue and attach photos if possible. This will be stored as documentation for both you as the tenant and us as the landlord. If you move into a furnished room, the bed should include a mattress topper and a mattress protector sheet.
Internal Housing Transfer
If you are changing housing units internally, you must book a pre-inspection through the app. The inspection will take place as close to the moving date as possible, so book well in advance. Before the inspection, you must clean as thoroughly as possible. These inspections are carried out to detect and prevent the spread of pests. You will not receive access to the new housing unit until the pre-inspection has been completed. If the inspection is approved, you will gain access to the new unit. If the cleaning is insufficient, you must arrange a move-out inspection with the inspector or through the app. This inspection will take place after you move out of the old unit. If pests such as bedbugs are discovered, measures will be taken before you are allowed to move to a new unit.
Moving Out
When moving out of Studentinord housing, you must book a move-out inspection. The inspection should take place as close to the move-out date as possible. Keep in mind that many residents move out during Christmas and summer, so book early.
This is done through the app.
If you leave the housing unit without completing a move-out inspection and the cleaning is not satisfactory, you will be charged for the time required for cleaning. See the price list and fees.
If your inspection is not approved and you still choose not to correct the issues, the same rules apply as for not booking an inspection.
If your inspection is approved, you may leave the housing unit with peace of mind.
Cleaning Checklist Before Moving Out:
- Dust lamps and shelves, and remove stains
- Clean the inside and outside of wardrobes, including the top of the wardrobe
- Wash walls, doors, door frames, windows, and window frames
- Wipe down and vacuum furniture and beds
- Scrub bathroom tiles and walls thoroughly
- Clean sinks and toilets thoroughly
- Clean mirrors
- Clean and organize the kitchen, appliances, and equipment. Kitchen cabinets assigned to you must be cleaned thoroughly. The kitchen fan and filter must also be cleaned.
- Empty the refrigerator and freezer of your food
- Wash floors and baseboards
- If you have a storage room, it must also be emptied and cleaned
Moving Out – Short-Term Rentals
If you are a short-term resident at Kaialundveien, you will find cleaning equipment in the student cleaning supply closets on the 2nd and 4th floors for cleaning before leaving the housing unit. Bed linen must be removed and placed in the laundry closet. Kitchen cabinets and all contents belonging to the room must be cleaned. Insufficient cleaning or missing inventory in the room or kitchen kit after the rental period ends will result in invoicing for the time spent and the actual cost of lost items.
Short-term tenants do not need to book a move-out inspection.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Internet
All student homes have Wifi with gigabit line 1000/1000. After you have moved in you need to register at this page to get a password for your Wifi network. You will be asked to provide a MAC address, which can be found at the internet central (home gateway) inside your home.
After your registration, you will receive an SMS from our internet provider Signal with username and password - within one working day.
Please note! The text message is written in Norwegian, but look for: "Altibox####" - which is the name of your Wifi, and "passord: ****" - which is your password.
Please call Signal customer service on +47 7543 05 00 if you experience any problems. If Signal can’t help you, you can contact the Housing office.
LAUNDRY
You can do your laundry at the Student home's common laundry between 8am and 10pm.
It is easy to book and pay for laundry wit Appwas. Here you can read about how to proceed.
TIP: It is a good idea to set an alarm on your phone a few minutes before your laundry is done. This way, you can avoid unnecessary queues at the washing machines. If you're there when your laundry finishes, the next user won't have to empty the machine for you, and you'll have full control over your clothes.
USE A TUMBLE DRYER
A regular laundry contains 2-3 liters of water. This means that if you hang the laundry to dry in the apartment, without venting well, this can cause mites and bacteria. We recommend using a dryer as long as it is possible.
If you have no other option than to hang the laundry inside your home, it is important that you ventilate well.

TALK TO YOUR STUDENT REPRESENTATIVE ABOUT THE SOCIAL LIFE AT THE STUDENT HOME
