Studentinord offers a sustainable Thermo Cup that gives you the chance to contribute to reduced consumption of cardboard cups. We think this is a great way to reduce our ecological footprint, and we hope you agree. And for all of those who love coffee, there is no doubt that this is profitable!

Prices and benefits

The Thermo Cup is available for purchase at all our Campuses. The Cup has a screw lid to keep your coffee warm during lectures, while you enjoy a clean conscience and save money at the same time.

• Student prize Thermo Cup NOK 49,-
  Price pr. refill with coffee in the Thermo Cup is NOK 10,-
  Prices applies to regular filter coffee, and not freshly brewed coffee.
• For students at Levanger, coffee bongs will still be valid. For 20 cups of coffee in mugs or thermo cups, students pay NOK 200, - and employees NOK 240,-.
• For students at the The Norwegian Police University College, we maintain the national coffee deal. 

We focus on the environment

The Thermo Cup is one of our most visible measures for the environment. We work to be an environmentally friendly canteen, and the packaging we use is considered to be 100 % biodegradable. We are constantly assessing possible new business partners to further approach the need to be sustainable.

We hope our new Thermo Cup will replace many many cardboard cups, and thus have a positive environmental effect. Each student and employee will have an impact on how environmentally friendly the Thermo Cup will be. Fun, right?

Coffee fun facts

• Today, Norwegians are among the most coffee thirsty people in the world, with an average of 1825 cups pr. inhabitant during one year. This corresponds to 146 liters of coffee.
• Coffee is really a berry. It has the size of a cherry, and the coffee beans are the stones of the berry. They grow on trees that first bloom four to five years after sowing. Nine months after flowering, the berries are ripe and ready to be harvested, and one kilo of roasted coffee requires about 5000 of them.
• Coffee contains antioxidants. In fact, few or no other things we consume have as much antioxidants as coffee. And the antioxidants can reduce the risk of cancer, heart disease and a variety of other diseases.
• The world's most expensive coffee is called Kopi Luwak (civet coffee) and costs around 300 NOK pr. cup. The coffee is prepared using coffee beans that have been subjected to ingestion and fermentation in the gastrointestinal tract of the Asian palm civet, which is called luwak in Indonesia. 
• It takes about 10 minutes before you begin to notice the effect of the caffeine after taking the first sip.

Environmental and recycling fun facts

• Plastic Packaging: Did you know that both Brazil and Portugal`s soccer teams have played in the World Cup with uniform sets of recycled plastic bottles?
• Cardboard / carton: By recycling 100 pizza boxes we save as much energy as a tumble dryer that runs for 12 hours!
• Clothing: If you buy a used piece of clothing instead of a new one every month, you are helping to cut almost 500 kilos of CO2 emissions in a year.
