IMPORTANT TO KNOW ABOUT CLEANING
Cleaning Information
Corridors, stairways, elevators, and the student laundry room are cleaned once a week by Studentinord.
Short-Term Rental – Rooms
In your room, you will find cleaning cloths, a kitchen towel, a mop, and a mop handle, which must be used when you move out. Trash must also be emptied. Remember to check the refrigerator.
You will find bed linen and towels on the shelf above the bed. When moving out, the bed linen must be removed, and both the bed linen and towels should be placed inside the wardrobe.
Kitchen equipment must be cleaned and returned to the cupboard. Insufficient cleaning or missing inventory after the rental period will result in invoicing for time spent and the actual cost of lost items.
There is a student laundry room in the basement that you are free to use. We do not provide extra bed linen, towels, or toilet paper during your stay.
Short-term tenants do not need to book a move-out inspection.
Long-Term Rental – Rooms
If you have a long-term contract at Nordavind, you must provide your own cleaning supplies for your room.
Moving In
When you move in, you must thoroughly inspect the accommodation. If you discover major defects, damage, or other issues, you must create a report in the app. Describe the issue and attach photos if possible. This will be stored as documentation for both you as the tenant and us as the landlord. If you have moved into a furnished room, the bed should include a mattress topper and a mattress protector sheet.
Internal Room Transfer
If you are changing accommodation internally, you must book a pre-inspection through the app. The inspection will take place as close to the moving date as possible, so please book well in advance. Before the inspection, you should clean as much as possible. We carry out these pre-inspections during internal transfers to detect and prevent the spread of possible pests. You will not receive access to your new accommodation until the pre-inspection has been completed. If the inspection is approved, you will be granted access to the new accommodation. If the cleaning is insufficient, you must arrange a move-out inspection either with the inspector or through the app. This inspection will take place after you have moved out of your old accommodation. If pests such as bedbugs are discovered, we will take the necessary measures before you are allowed to change accommodation.
Moving Out - Short-Term Rental
If you are a short-term resident at Nordavind, you will find cleaning cloths, tea towels, mops, and mop handles in your unit to use when cleaning before you leave the accommodation. Bed linen and towels must be removed and placed in the laundry closet. The kitchen and its contents must be cleaned and returned to the cupboards. Garbage must be taken out. Failure to clean properly or missing inventory/items in the room after the end of the tenancy will result in invoicing for the time spent and the actual costs of the lost property.
Short-term tenants do not need to book a move-out inspection.
Moving Out – Long-Term Rental
When moving out of Studentinord housing, you must book a move-out inspection. The inspection should take place as close to your move-out date as possible. Please remember that many tenants move out during Christmas and summer, so book well in advance.
This is done through the app.
If you leave the accommodation without completing a move-out inspection and the cleaning is not satisfactory, you will be invoiced for the time spent cleaning. See the price list and fees.
If your inspection is not approved and you still choose not to correct the issues or deficiencies, the same rules apply as for not booking an inspection.
If you receive an approved inspection, you may leave the accommodation with peace of mind.
Please allow sufficient time to empty and clean the accommodation according to the following checklist:
- Dust lamps and shelves, and remove stains
- Clean the inside and outside of wardrobes, including the top of the wardrobe
- Clean walls, doors and door frames, windows, and window frames
- Wipe down and vacuum furniture and beds
- Scrub bathroom tiles and walls thoroughly
- Clean sinks and toilets thoroughly
- Clean mirrors
- Clean and tidy the kitchen, appliances, and equipment. Kitchen cabinets assigned to you must be cleaned thoroughly. The kitchen fan and filter must also be cleaned
- Empty the refrigerator and freezer of your food
- Wash floors and skirting boards
- If you have a storage unit, it must be emptied and cleaned
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Internet
All student homes have Wifi with gigabit line 1000/1000. After you have moved in you need to register at this page to get a password for your Wifi network. You will be asked to provide a MAC address, which can be found at the internet central (home gateway) inside your home.
After your registration, you will receive an SMS from our internet provider Signal with username and password - within one working day.
Please note! The text message is written in Norwegian, but look for: "Altibox####" - which is the name of your Wifi, and "passord: ****" - which is your password.
Please call Signal customer service on +47 7543 05 00 if you experience any problems. If Signal can’t help you, you can contact the Housing office.
Laundry
When you move in you will get a laundry chip that can be used in the shared laundry. Short-term rentals longer than 14 days receive a laundry chip; otherwise, they can get one if they come to the front desk. With the laundry chip you also get your username and password to a portal where you can reserve washing machines and transfer money to your laundry account. The laundry is available between 8am and 10pm.
TIP: It is a good idea to set an alarm on your phone a few minutes before your laundry is done. This way, you can avoid unnecessary queues at the washing machines. If you're there when your laundry finishes, the next user won't have to empty the machine for you, and you'll have full control over your clothes.
To use a washing machine costs from 12 kr per wash. To use a tumble dryer costs 10kr. The amount is withdrawn from your laundry account every time you start a washing machine or dryer.
If you should lose your laundry chip it is important to notify us so that we can block the chip and prepare a new one.
A reservation is valid until 15 minutes after the reserved time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the reserved time, other tenants may use the washing machine. It is only the washing machines that can be booked, not the tumble dryers.
You can also book a washing machine directly in the laundry, or use washing machines that are available in the laundry without booking.
TIP: Tick off for «forbli innlogget» (stay logged in) and the system will remember you next time. You can get SMS notifications to remind you of a booking, or when a weashing machine or tumble dryer programme is finished. SMS notifications can be activated in the laundry or in the web portal. The service is for free.
USE A TUMBLE DRYER
A regular laundry contains 2-3 liters of water. This means that if you hang the laundry to dry in the apartment, without venting well, this can cause mites and bacteria. We recommend using a dryer as long as it is possible.
If you have no other option than to hang the laundry inside your home, it is important that you ventilate well.
