IMPORTANT TO KNOW ABOUT CLEANING
Cleaning Information
Private room/apartment
Cleaning of your own room or apartment is the responsibility of each resident, and you must provide your own cleaning equipment.
Common areas
A cleaning company cleans the common areas twice a week. This includes corridors, accessible toilets (HCWC) on all floors, laundry room, study room and common room. Mats outside doors in corridors, drying racks or similar items are not permitted.
Common room
If you use/rent the common room, you must clean up after use. We recommend taking pictures of the room before use if it has not been cleaned before your booking. The person booking the common area is responsible for ensuring that the regulations are followed and that the room is fully cleaned and tidied by 12:00 the following day. If the room is not cleaned by 12:00 the next day, you will be charged for the time spent cleaning. Failure to comply may result in loss of booking privileges for the common areas. You will find a student cleaning closet in the building with limited cleaning equipment intended for cleaning the common rooms after use.
- Quiet hours are from 24:00 on weekends and 23:00 on weekdays.
- To reserve exclusive use of the entire common room during the booking period, there must be at least 10 people present. If fewer than 10 people are attending, all residents in the building may use the area.
- The person booking the common room is responsible for ensuring it is cleaned and tidied.
- Garbage must be removed before leaving the room, and cleaning must be completed by 12:00 the following day. Corridors, shared toilets and elevators must also be cleaned if necessary.
- All furniture and equipment used must be cleaned and returned to their original place after use. The student who booked the common area is responsible for ensuring that it looks the same as in the reference photos when leaving.
- All reservations must be made through the “Reddel” app. You may book the room once per month.
Moving in
When moving in, you must carefully inspect the accommodation. If you discover major faults, damages or other issues, you must create a report in the app. Describe the issue and attach pictures if possible. This will be stored as documentation for both you as a tenant and us as the landlord. If you move into a furnished room, the bed should include a mattress topper and mattress protector sheet.
Internal room transfer
If you are changing accommodation internally, you must book a pre-inspection through the app. The inspection will be scheduled as close as possible to the moving date, so book well in advance. Before the inspection, you should clean as much as possible. These pre-inspections are carried out to detect/prevent the spread of pests. You will not gain access to your new accommodation until the pre-inspection has been completed. If the inspection is approved, you will be given access to the new accommodation. If the cleaning is insufficient, you must arrange a move-out inspection with the inspector or through the app. This inspection will take place after you move out of the old accommodation. If pests such as bedbugs are discovered, measures will be implemented before you can move.
Moving out
When moving out of Studentinord housing, you must book a move-out inspection. The inspection should be scheduled as close as possible to your move-out date. Keep in mind that many residents move out during Christmas and summer, so book well in advance.
This is done through the app.
If you leave the accommodation without completing a move-out inspection and the cleaning is not satisfactory, you will be charged for the time spent cleaning. See the price list and fees.
If your inspection is not approved and you still choose not to correct the issues or deficiencies, the same rule applies as for not booking an inspection.
If you receive an approved inspection, you may leave the accommodation with peace of mind.
Set aside enough time to empty and clean the accommodation according to the following checklist:
- Dust lamps and shelves, and remove stains
- Clean inside and outside wardrobes, including the top of the wardrobe
- Wash walls, doors and door frames, windows and window frames
- Furniture and bed must be wiped and vacuumed
- Tiles and bathroom walls must be scrubbed clean
- Sink and toilet must be cleaned thoroughly
- Clean mirrors
- Clean and organize kitchen, appliances and equipment. Kitchen cabinets assigned to you must be thoroughly cleaned. Kitchen hood and filter must also be cleaned
- Refrigerator and freezer must be emptied of your food
- Wash floors and skirting boards
- If you have a storage room, it must be emptied and cleaned
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Internet
All student homes have Wifi with gigabit line 1000/1000. After you have moved in you need to register at this page to get a password for your Wifi network. You will be asked to provide a MAC address, which can be found at the internet central (home gateway) inside your home.
After your registration, you will receive an SMS from our internet provider Signal with username and password - within one working day.
Please note! The text message is written in Norwegian, but look for: "Altibox####" - which is the name of your Wifi, and "passord: ****" - which is your password.
Please call Signal customer service on +47 7543 05 00 if you experience any problems. If Signal can’t help you, you can contact the Housing office.
Laundry
When you move in you will get a laundry chip that can be used in the shared laundry. The laundry is available between 8am and 10pm.
You will also receive username and password to a portal where you can reserve washing machines and transfer money to your laundry account.
TIP: It is a good idea to set an alarm on your phone a few minutes before your laundry is done. This way, you can avoid unnecessary queues at the washing machines. If you're there when your laundry finishes, the next user won't have to empty the machine for you, and you'll have full control over your clothes.
To use a washing machine costs from 12 kr per wash. To use a tumble dryer costs 10kr. The amount is withdrawn from your laundry account every time you start a washing machine or dryer.
If you should lose your laundry chip it is important to notify us so that we can block the chip and prepare a new one.
A reservation is valid until 15 minutes after the reserved time. If you arrive more than 15 minutes after the reserved time, other tenants may use the washing machine. It is only the washing machines that can be booked, not the tumble dryers.
You can also book a washing machine directly in the laundry, or use washing machines that are available in the laundry without booking.
TIP: Tick off for «forbli innlogget» (stay logged in) and the system will remember you next time. You can get SMS notifications to remind you of a booking, or when a weashing machine or tumble dryer programme is finished. SMS notifications can be activated in the laundry or in the web portal. The service is for free.
USE A TUMBLE DRYER
A regular laundry contains 2-3 liters of water. This means that if you hang the laundry to dry in the apartment, without venting well, this can cause mites and bacteria. We recommend using a dryer as long as it is possible.
If you have no other option than to hang the laundry inside your home, it is important that you ventilate well.
Borrow equipment and book rooms with Reddel
Studentinord uses the digital servixce Reddel for sharing and reuse of various equipment, and booking of shared livingrooms.
Download the app Reddel to easily borrow e.g. cleaning equipment, vacuum cleaner, kitchen equipment, air mattress, board games, iron and ironing board, and other things that you might need from time to time.

Only tenants at our student homes with a valid and visible parking permit can park by our student homes. We do not have parking service for guests.
