For tenants at Skavdalslia student home
Here you find important practical information for tenants at Skavdalslia student home.
Useful information that can make your stay at the student home easier.
IMPORTANT TO KNOW ABOUT CLEANING
Cleaning Information
Private Room / Unit
Cleaning of your own room or apartment is the responsibility of each resident, and you must provide your own cleaning equipment.
Shared Areas
Studentinord cleans shared areas once a week. This includes corridors, accessible bathrooms (HCWC), laundry rooms, study rooms, and the common lounge. Rugs are not permitted outside doors in corridors, nor are drying racks or similar items.
Shared Lounge – Buildings B and C
If you use or rent the shared lounge, you must clean it afterward. We recommend taking photos of the lounge before use if it is not already clean when you take it over. The person who books the shared area is responsible for ensuring that the rules are followed and that the room is fully cleaned and tidied by 12:00 the following day. If the lounge is not cleaned by 12:00 after use, you will be invoiced for the time spent cleaning. Failure to comply may result in losing the right to book shared areas. There is a student cleaning supply closet in both buildings with limited equipment, intended for cleaning the shared lounges after use. Shared Lounge Rules
- Quiet hours are 24:00 on weekends and 23:00 on weekdays.
- To book the lounge exclusively, there must be at least 10 people. If fewer than 10 people are present, all residents in the building may use the area.
- The person booking the lounge is responsible for cleaning and tidying it afterward.
- Trash must be removed before leaving, and the room must be cleaned by 12:00 the following day. Corridors, shared toilets, and elevators must also be cleaned if necessary.
- All furniture and equipment used must be cleaned and returned to its original place. The student who booked the lounge is responsible for ensuring it matches the condition shown in the reference photos when leaving.
- All reservations must be made via the “Reddel” app. You may book the room once per month.
Moving In
When you move in, you must thoroughly inspect the accommodation. If you discover major defects, damage, or other issues, you must create a report in the app. Describe the issue and attach photos if possible. This will be stored as documentation for both you as the tenant and us as the landlord.
If you have moved into a furnished room, the bed should include a mattress topper and a mattress protector sheet.
Internal Room Transfer
If you are changing accommodation internally, you must book a pre-inspection through the app. The inspection will take place as close to the moving date as possible, so please book well in advance. Before the inspection, you should clean as much as possible. We carry out these pre-inspections during internal transfers to detect and prevent the spread of possible pests. You will not receive access to your new accommodation until the pre-inspection has been completed. If the inspection is approved, you will be granted access to the new accommodation. If the cleaning is insufficient, you must arrange a move-out inspection either with the inspector or through the app. This inspection will take place after you have moved out of your old accommodation. If pests such as bedbugs are discovered, we will take the necessary measures before you are allowed to change accommodation.
Moving Out
When moving out of Studentinord housing, you must book a move-out inspection. The inspection should take place as close to your move-out date as possible. Please remember that many tenants move out during Christmas and summer, so book well in advance.
This is done via the app.
If you leave the accommodation without completing a move-out inspection and the cleaning is not satisfactory, you will be invoiced for the time spent cleaning. See the price list and fees.
If you receive a failed inspection and still choose not to correct the issues or deficiencies, the same rules apply as if no inspection was booked.
If you receive an approved inspection, you may leave the accommodation with peace of mind.
Please allow sufficient time to empty and clean the accommodation according to the following checklist:
- Dust lamps and shelves, and remove stains
- Clean the inside and outside of wardrobes, including the top of the wardrobe
- Clean walls, doors and door frames, windows, and window frames
- Wipe down and vacuum furniture and beds
- Scrub bathroom tiles and walls thoroughly
- Clean sinks and toilets thoroughly
- Clean mirrors
- Clean and tidy the kitchen, appliances, and equipment. Kitchen cabinets assigned to you must be cleaned thoroughly. The kitchen fan and filter must also be cleaned
- Empty the refrigerator and freezer of your food
- Wash floors and skirting boards
- If you have a storage unit, it must be emptied and cleaned
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Internet
All student homes have Wifi with gigabit line 1000/1000. After you have moved in you need to register at this page to get a password for your Wifi network. You will be asked to provide a MAC address, which can be found at the internet central (home gateway) inside your home.
After your registration, you will receive an SMS from our internet provider Signal with username and password - within one working day.
Please note! The text message is written in Norwegian, but look for: "Altibox####" - which is the name of your Wifi, and "passord: ****" - which is your password.
Please call Signal customer service on +47 7543 05 00 if you experience any problems. If Signal can’t help you, you can contact the Housing office.
Laundry
You can do your laundry at the Student home's common laundry between 8am and 10pm.
It is easy to book and pay for laundry wit Airwallet. Here you can read about how to proceed.
TIP: It is a good idea to set an alarm on your phone a few minutes before your laundry is done. This way, you can avoid unnecessary queues at the washing machines. If you're there when your laundry finishes, the next user won't have to empty the machine for you, and you'll have full control over your clothes.
USE A TUMBLE DRYER
A regular laundry contains 2-3 liters of water. This means that if you hang the laundry to dry in the apartment, without venting well, this can cause mites and bacteria. We recommend using a dryer as long as it is possible.
If you have no other option than to hang the laundry inside your home, it is important that you ventilate well.

If the fire alarm goes off - always call (+47) 110. This is important both if you have a burnt pizza and in case of an actual fire.

Each unit is equipped with a fire detector mounted on the ceiling. This detector detects fire and smoke and must not be tampered with. It should not be confused with a battery-operated fire alarm.

Please note that you need a parking permit, and that the parking permit must be visible through the windshield of your car, to be able to use the designated parking lot by the student home. You can contact the Housing office to get your parking permit.
Only tenants at our student homes with a valid and visible parking permit can park by our student homes. We do not have parking service for guests.
